Inspection and Testing We come to your property to determine if there is a leakage problem and where it is coming from. Investigate any potential or existing Mould or Bacteria problems. We do this using sophisticated moisture testing equipment and infrared cameras and with experience we can pinpoint the areas affected. We will generally take samples to identify what type of Mould or Bacteria we are dealing with and help you with your concerns about your and your family's health and Safety. If there has been a sewer leak or stagnant water there is potential for serious health issues caused by Bacteria. If it is a small problem, we can help you with some sort of thing. If it is a more significant problem we can recommend contractors who specialise in the cleaning and repair of Mouldy Properties or properties that have been affected by sewage. We can suggest several good tradesmen if you need a plumber, sparky or builder.
Testing Some Moulds are toxic so testing identifies the type of Mould. We'll let you know about the testing that needs to be done. This is usually Spore trapping, Tape lifting, or Bulk We will supply a written report on how to remediate.(scope of works) We will also test for Bacteria build-up where there has been stagnant water sitting or Sewage leaks.
What type of testing do we do?
Air sampling if there is a danger to people's health living on the property as required. ( we own our own Air sampler)
Sellotape sampling, off walls and ceilings
Bulk Sampling, if it is curtains and other materials.
Mould testing
Mould in NZ properties has become an increasing problem in recent decades. We are noted as a country with high levels of dampness in housing. This is because of our recent high outdoor humidity, relatively poor housing stock, and inadequate insulation and heating. A recent telephone survey found that 35% people identified with Mould in at least 1 room of their home, whilst 48% of those had mould in their bathroom and 47% in the master bedroom.
Over the last 30 years we have found a change in how we live in our homes. This is mainly because we are more security-conscious and energy conscious. We have all windows and doors locked preventing air movement throughout the house; we often dry our clothes inside on clothes horses or un-vented dryers causing the relative Humidity in homes to increase assisting in the growth of mould. There have also been changes in the building industry regarding how houses are built and the materials used. There are a lot more cellulose-based products. Homes are now basically sealed boxes encouraging mould to grow.
We will explain the steps in removing all moulds we have identified in your property and help ensure the most minor inconvenience to our client. Sometimes it may be necessary to seal off parts of the property to prevent cross-contamination from one room to the other.
If it is a small problem we can advise you and save you money by assisting you with advice on remediation work.
If it's larger. We will help find an appropriate contractor and supply them with a scope of work to remove all mouldy or Bacteria Affected materials and treat all areas where mould or Bacteria has been removed, ensuring no further spores are in the affected areas.
We will do post-remediation testing as required to ensure the mould/ Bacteria does not return. Once mould is established it is tough to eradicate. All contaminated materials must be removed safely, the remaining areas dried, cleaned, treated and checked.
