We will supply a written report on how to remediate.( a scope of works) We will also test for Bacteria Build-up where there has been Stagnant water sitting or Sewage leaks.
What type of testing do we do?
Air sampling, if there is a danger to peoples health living in the property as required. ( we own our own Air sampler)
Cellotape sampling, off walls and ceilings
Bulk Sampling, if it is curtains and other materials.
Instant testing identifies if mould is toxic, although it wont tell you what type of mould it is or the spore count. Apart from instant testing, all testing is done in approved NZ Lab or Australian Lab.
Mould testing
Mould in NZ properties has become an increasing problem in the past few decades. We are noted as a Country with high levels of dampness in housing. This is because of our high outdoor Humidity, relative poor housing stock and up to recently, inadequate insulation and heating. A recent telephone Survey found that 35% people identified with Mould in at least 1 room of their home, whilst 48% of those had mould in their Bathroom and 47% in the Master Bedroom.
Over the last 30 years we have found there has been a change in the way we live in our homes. This is mainly because we are more security-conscious and energy conscious. We have all windows and doors locked preventing air movement throughout the home, we often dry our clothes inside on clothes horses or un-vented dryers causing the relative Humidity in homes to increase assisting in the growth of mould. There have also been changes in the building industry with the way houses are built and the materials used. There is a lot more Cellulose based products. Houses are now basically sealed boxes encouraging mould to grow.
We will explain to you the steps in the removal of all mould that we have identified in your property and assist to ensure there is the least inconvenience to you our client. At times it may be necessary to seal off parts of the property to prevent cross contamination from one room to the other.
If it is a small problem we can advise you and save you money by assisting you with remediation work.
If its larger. we will assist in finding an appropriate contractor and supply them with a scope of works, to remove all mouldy or Bacteria Affected materials and treat all areas where mould or Bacteria has been removed from, ensuring there are no further spores in the affected areas.
We will do post remediation testing as required to ensure the mould/ Bacteria does not return. Once mould is established it is very difficult to eradicate. All contaminated materials have to be removed safely, the remaining areas dried, cleaned and treated and checked.
